Ingredients
KSM-66® Ashwagandha
Withania somnifera
Root only. No leaf. Branded, standardised, and the most heavily researched ashwagandha extract available.
It costs us several times what generic root powder does. That's the entire reason it's named on the front of the pouch instead of buried as “ashwagandha extract” in the small print. If you're paying for the good version, you should be able to see which version it is.
L-Theanine
Amino acid
An amino acid, found naturally in green and black tea. Ours is the L-form, which is the one that occurs in nature.
A strong cup of tea gets you somewhere around 20 to 25mg. Foundation has 150mg. Several cups' worth, in two gummies.
It's been studied in humans, and the references are at the bottom of the science section if you want to read them.
Lemon Balm
Melissa officinalis
A mint-family perennial. Grown across Europe since at least the Middle Ages and drunk as a tea for about as long.
It's the smallest dose in the formula and the one nobody asks us about. It's still a real one. 100mg of leaf extract is a different proposition from a pinch of powder added so the ingredient list runs longer.
Centuries of use across Europe is why it's on our list to look at. The dose is why it's in the pouch.
Magnesium Glycinate
Elemental magnesium
Glycinate form. We state the elemental figure, because that's the number counting against your NRV. The panel above explains why the two aren't the same.
